Il design originale Yamaha prevede un sub-frame proprio al di sotto della camma per ottenere maggior stabilità e durata. I batteristi possono così disporre di un movimento più fluido e più stabile in particolare nelle configurazioni a doppio pedale, poiché i cuscinetti del battente principale e di quello remoto sono incorporati nel sub-frame.
