La gamma tradizionale di ance per clarinetto elenca da 1 a 5 in incrementi di ½ con 1 come il più debole e 5 come il più forte. La variazione della forza delle lamelle dipende dallo standard del musicista. Le ance Strength 1 sono rese più sottili e quindi più deboli, permettendo all’esecutore di ottenere una nota più facilmente senza cigolare, ma perdendo di conseguenza la qualità del suono e l’intonazione. Un’ancia di forza 5 è difficile da ottenere una nota, ma il tono e la capacità di rimanere in sintonia è molto maggiore.
